Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my business need a website?
There are many positives to having your own website. A good website design gives your business a professional image, provides information, promotes sales, and allows your clients to submit inquiries to your business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Can you help me improve my existing website?
Yes! I would be glad to help you fix your site. I use the latest in design software and programming languages, so I will be able to give your site the help and attention it deserves.
How much will my website cost?
That depends on several factors. I would be happy to sit down with you and determine your website needs and provide you with a quote of the cost of my services.
How many pages will I need?
The number of pages on your website depend on how much content you have. Every business website should have an 'About Us' page (or something similarly titled) to tell your visitors about your business. After that, it depends on what type of business you have. A good rule of thumb is to not overwhelm your audience with too much information on each page. Disperse the information and break it up into digestible pages and paragraphs. Long pages of text tend to overwhelm the reader. Break content up to effectively get your audience's attention.
How does the design process work?
Please refer to my Design Process page for a detailed breakdown of the design process.
How long will the design process take?
Usually the longest part of the proess is gathering the necessary information. Once I have the material I need the development can happen quickly. Most sites can be up within 30 days.
Who owns my website after it is finished?
You do! I will provide you with full access and control of your website after project sign-off and final payment. However, I encourage you to consider a Website Maintenance Package to cover any future upgrades you would like to make to your site.
Is there any maintenance required after the website design and development is completed?
Depending on the business, some amount of maintenance will be needed. As your business evolves, you may require some things to be added, deleted, or modified. If there is not much change in your business over time, the maintenance can be minimal. Please refer to my Website Maintenance Page to see which package might be ideal for your situation.
I already have a logo. Can you use it on my new website?
Of course! I can use logos and any other marketing images to enhance your branding on your website.
What is a domain name?
This is the address people will use to access your Web site (www.yourcompany.com). This is also refered to as the URL.
What is website hosting?
Hosting is a service performed by a 3rd party company. I have a wonderful hosting service that I use for all my clients. They provide the database storage for all the files that make up your website. I am happy to serve as a liasion between you and your hosting company to get your website up and running.
What is Search Engine Optimization?
You can build it, but will they come? With 97% of customers doing internet research before they buy, you can't afford to get bumped to the back of the search results line. An intelligently optimized website drives traffic to your website, boosting brand awareness and sales growth. If your website doesn't get seen, it can end up being an art project more than an investment in your business.
What is website maintenance?
A website should be updated as necessary to achieve it's highest possible profit and search engine ranking. Maintaining your web site means that all customers who visit your site can be assured of receiving current information EVERY time they visit. It's an important part of building your business to client relationship. I can customize a website maintenance package to your individual business needs.
